Pilgrimage day 3

Saturday (today IS Saturday, right?) found our group traipsing 800 feet into the earth and back, and then a few hundred miles through much of New Mexico.

We toured through Carlsbad Caverns, a venture only slightly marred by the bird who shat in my hair (I still don’t wanna talk about it). After gulping in some scenery, off we were for Roswell. We enjoyed a hearty lunch (with a side of indigestion) served up by sweet as pie waitress, Gloria. (She may or may not be an alien.)

After lunch we headed northwest to Santa Fe, dinner at La Choza (hello spicy green chiles!). We are currently settled in for the night at the Pecos Benedictine monastery. It is quiet here and it is cool. I think we will all find ourselves grateful in the morning for the respite.
